Day 39: Moscow to Saint Petersburg

Today we plan to travel 710 kms. to reach Saint Petersburg. We started by 8:40 am. We were missing Aditi and Avya, our two members who have flown back to Singapore. The drive was much better today as compared to drive up to Moscow, with better scenery on the way. There were green jungles on both sides of the road. It appears that they have made highway through the jungle. At one place there was a board displaying ‘Look out for Deer’.

We reached a Café on the way where we thought we would get lunch. They had no other dishes for our taste, except Spaghetti. The lady there was very kind to give us boiled water. We cooked our Ready to eat food. We took Spaghetti also from her. The lady was from Uzbekistan and had warm regards for Indians.

We reached Saint Petersburg by about 8 pm.

Saint Petersburg is Russian port city on the Baltic Sea. It was the imperial capital for 2 centuries. It was founded by Peter the Great, subject of the city’s iconic “Bronze Horseman” statue. It is Russian’s cultural centre.
