Day 32: Aralsk to Aktobe

Today is another day when we plan to travel >700 kms. We started at 8:30 am and first took petrol as soon as we reached the highway.

The route today also was devoid of any scenery. Kazakhstan is a country where more land is just open space with green grass. These are called ‘Steppe’. Kazakh Steppe is also called Great Dala, ecoregion, of the Palearctic temperate grasslands, savannas, and shrublands. This is a vast region of open grassland in northern Kazakhstan and adjacent portions of Russia. We saw many camels single but very big hump and double hump, horses, sheep and cows on the way.

Kazakhstan is the dominant nation of Central Asia economically, generating 60% of the region’s GDP, primarily through its Oil and Gas industry. It also has vast mineral resources.
We took lunch prepared in the morning in the hotel by us, in the car. We only stopped otherwise for petrol. The toilets in Kazakhstan are very, very dirty. They are not maintained and are mostly not cleaned for long time.

We reached Aktobe at about 8 pm.

We have rest day tomorrow and it was very important to take rest since it is after 4 days of long drives. We are all tired, specially Anupam, who has been driving day in and day out without much rest.
