Day 3: Krabi to Bangkok

A day without a country border crossing. There was some sort of relief as the uncertainty about time taken in border crossing was not there.

The hotel we stayed is a very good hotel. With the Ao Nang beach within 2 minutes‘  walk, it is a fabulous place to stay.

We left at 5:55am from out hotel in Krabi and we could avoid the morning traffic congestion. We also could see the sunrise, though it was behind the hills in the east. The Highway route 4 and 44 were good. After about 140 kms. we touched the main Highway AH2 and here the road was fabulous and there were lots of Petrol Stations with Convenient Stores on the way.

The journey was smooth and very enjoyable. We were driving along the sea most of the time. When we were about to reach Prachuap Khiri Khan, we were advised from Singapore by Aditi, our team member who will join us near in China, that there is a good restaurant ‘Verandah’ on the Phat Hakae beach. The restaurant is inside a Resort ‘Nisha Villa’. So, from the entrance of the resort to the restaurant, we were provided with a ‘Tuktuk’. This is a vehicle in which 6 people can sit. It is like the Share autos in Chennai or 6 seater ‘phatphati’ that used to run in Delhi earlier. We got good local food, details of which are given in Culinary Section today. On the way to Bangkok, we stopped at a Café on a petrol station and took snacks. After entering Bangkok, expectedly the speed reduced due to the evening congestion in the city. Bangkok is a very big city with population of > 8 million. The city is also known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon or simply as Krung Thep. The city is situated near Chao Phraya river delta.

We reached hotel in Bangkok at 7:15 pm We could take dinner and hit the bed early so that we make full use of the rest day tomorrow and catch up with the lost hours of sleep in the last one week.
