We were in our zone in Singapore and Malaysia since we had visited Malaysia many times. The real adventure part started today when we left Butterworth in Malaysia for Krabi in Thailand.
First adventure was that we decided to take a different route than the route normally taken by the people. We decided to cross the Malaysia – Thailand border through Padang Besar. We had learned that the experience of other travellers was that the border crossing at Bukit Kayu Hitam is very time consuming. It takes 2 to 3 hours and on weekends it takes more time.
While deciding the change of route, we did not realise that the roads on the alternate route were not broad enough and we would be able to drive at comparatively lesser speed throughout the journey to Krabi. We started at 7 am and reached Holiday Inn Express, near Ao Nang beach in Krabi at about 5 pm. The best part was that the up hills & down hills drive was majestically beautiful..
The border crossing was without hassle and we were out of both borders quite quickly.
At the border while entering Thailand, we met a French couple, who were very happy that we would be going to their country France in our journey by car.
Holiday Inn Express in Ao Nang is opposite the beach. It was icing on the cake because we did not realise that the beach would be so near. It was naturally time to go to beach and that also before the Sunset time. We managed to reach in time and took photos of the beach and the sunset.
We met a Russian at the reception of the hotel. He saw the car and was very excited to know that we would visit his country also.
One Indian family staying in the same hotel was coming back from beach. They saw our car and read everything written on the car. They were very interested to know that we would be going all the way to London to encourage and support Indian cricket team for the world cup.

For an Indian the best part is if he gets to eat Indian food in a foreign country. In the Hotel we were informed that there is a Punjab Palace, an Indian restaurant near to the beach. After the sunset we decided to reach the restaurant and the menu was ----- oh, Tandoori Roti, Tadka Dal, aloo gobhi sabji and Chicken Butter masala. To top it all we even got Curd. So, we had a simple and hot delicious food and slept early so that we leave tomorrow morning by 5:30 am. It will be long 10-hour drive, which would be 12 hours with stoppages for snacks and lunch.
Fantastic to read the details of your day - hoping to keep reading your blog as you go along! Lots of love to everyone.
